Debby was born in Hong Kong and grew up in Brooklyn and Long Island NY before relocating to Charlotte NC in 1992 with the company she worked for as an accountant. She earned her CPA license in 1997 and received her MBA diploma from Queens University in Charlotte in 1999.

Debby left the corporate world behind to be a full-time mom to her son in 2004. In 2005 she began teaching various group exercise classes at the Brace Family YMCA so she could get discounted membership for her family and to give her something to do while her son was in preschool. The high impact group exercise classes were adding more stress to her existing hip pain that made her reluctantly to give them up and left her to teach only yoga. With encouragement and support from her husband to teach only yoga she decided to attend a yoga teacher training program to be more knowledgeable about yoga. While maintaining her weekly teaching schedule in Charlotte, she traveled to the Asheville Yoga Center (AYC) for training because yoga teacher training programs were not popular in Charlotte at the time. She completed the 200 hour level yoga teaching certification in 2006. Then completed the 500 hour level certification by January 2009. She is currently registered with Yoga Alliance with the E-RYT500 designation as well as a Yoga Alliance continuing education provider.

The Asheville Yoga Center hosted many internationally known yoga personalities, so Debby was afforded several opportunities to learn from many experienced and internationally known yoga teachers such as Rod Stryker, Doug Swenson, David Williams, Paulie Zink, Paul Grilley, Scott Blossom, Doug Keller, Tim Miller, Gary Kraftscow, Bryan Kest, and Cora Wen.

Debby explored Thai Yoga shortly after completing her 500 hour yoga certification as an extension of learning hands on assist to serve her yoga students better. Debby traveled to New York City, Yogaville in VA, Kripalu in MA and ultimately to Montreal Canada to complete all six levels ( totals to 240 hours) of Lotus Palm Thai Yoga training by November 2009. She graduated from the Asheville School of Massage and Yoga and received her massage license in May 2011 to make it legal for her to practice Thai massage in North Carolina. Debby went to Chiang Mai Thailand in Feb 2013 for two weeks to train one-on-one with Photchanat Paenthai (aka Jack) Chaiya and immersed herself in the Thai culture.

Her passion for teaching fueled Debby's desire to create her own Thai Yoga Massage training. The National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork (NCBTMB) approved Debby's four Thai Yoga Massage with Acupoints courses in 2013. Licensed massage therapists could receive 21 hours of continuing education credits in each of the 3 levels of Thai Yoga Massage with Acupoints. She offers Thai Yoga Massage training in her hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina and will travel to bring her training to other locations. Debby was honored to be invited to teach her Thai Yoga Massage with Acupoints at The Yoga Room in Hong Kong in April 2014.

Debby continues to gain knowledge in the field of bodywork and functional movement. She has traveled all over the country taking courses from highly reputable and respectable innovators in the field of soft tissue manipulation. She learned of the Active Release Technique while researching for treatment of plantar fasciitis. In February 2016, she became full body certified in A.R.T. Being full body certified in A.R.T. requires passing the Upper Extremity, Lower Extremity and Spine courses practical exam. In June 2016, she passed ART Complex Protocol course certification. Other trainings Debby attended were the NeuroKinetic therapy level 1 in Dallas TX in October 2015, Fascial Movement Taping Level 1 in Feb 2016, and Anatomy Trains in Structure and Function in August 2016. Debby have been accepted into the 2018-2019 Anatomy Trains Structural Integration certification program and will travel to Maine to begin the training in September 2018.

Currently, Debby teaches weekly private yoga lessons and group yoga classes at her home studio and at the Brace Family YMCA where she has been teaching yoga weekly since 2006. She teaches with light-heartedness, humor, humility and compassion, sharing moments from her life's experiences while focusing on the needs of her students. Debby combines elements of her multifaceted knowledge and experience together in order to customize and focus on her student/client’s personal needs and goals. In doing so she is able to provide a custom and holistic approach to their well-being in her massage practice, private yoga lessons and group classes.
